The Secrets “Break Even” Nominated For 2015 ECMA Country Recording of the Year!

The Secrets are kicking off the New Year in fine style – receiving an East Coast Music Award nomination for Country Recording of the Year for their debut CD Break Even! The Secrets – Karla Pilgrim, Terri Lynn Eddy and Renee Batten – were already stoked to be performing at the January 28th ECMA press conference where this year’s award nominations were announced, and even more so when they learned that Break Even received the nomination for 2015 ECMA Country Recording of the Year.

Break Even was recorded at Beech Creek Studios in Nashville, where producer Peter Daniel Newman gathered some of that city’s finest session players – including Pat McGrath, Gordon Mote, Duncan Mullins, JT Corenflos, Steve Brewster, Andy Leftwich and Dan Dugmore, to support The Secrets in bringing their chosen songs to life. The album features a combination of The Secrets originals, several co-writes with Peter Daniel Newman (including their upcoming single release titled “Big Time”), a tasteful bluegrass cover of the Avicii hit “Hey Brother”, and album title track/lead single, Break Even written by fellow east coast musicians Chris Kirby and Tim Chaisson, all delivered with the natural harmonies that are The Secrets signature sound.

“We’ve been nominated for individual solo projects in the past” says Terri Lynn Eddy “but this is the first ECMA nomination we’ve received as a group, as The Secrets, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. We put our hearts and souls into the making of Break Even and it feels grand to have our work acknowledged in this way. We’ve also been selected to perform on several ECMA showcases, including the highly coveted Export Buyers stage where we’ll be performing for the International delegates, as well as those from across Canada, so we’re really looking forward to celebrating East Coast Music Week at home in St. John’s, Newfoundland.”

Before all the ECMA flurry takes over, The Secrets will be heading to Kansas City, Missouri for the 27th annual Folk Alliance International Conference, where they’ve been invited to showcase on a variety of stages for festival and event programmers, music media, record companies, publishers and agents from around the world.

This, along with the release of their second single to radio – “Big Time” – for which they’ll also be releasing their first music video, is making for a rather exciting start to 2015!
